This morning while listening to Arsenal play Manchester City and
cheering as The Gunners tied it up in the 64th minute, I realized I
care far more about what happens in the Premier League than I do in
the National Abusers League. I’ve come to the conclusion that the
League as personified by Goodall has no interest in doing what is
right and is only in finding what will maximize the profit to the
owners. There is nothing new in this except for this: I’m tired of it.
They’re protecting abusers just as they always have. The _only_ reason
Rice is on his ass is that he was too expensive, in a PR sense, to
keep. Even then, my over/under is he’s on a team within 11 months and
everyone at the League & at SI will bleat how he’s “reformed”. Right
up till the day Mrs Rice either ends up in the hospital or morgue, the
league will continue to aid and abet their abusive relationship. There
have been _how_ many other stories since? And now the story of Adrian
Peterson’s actions is the final straw.

I will not watch anything from the NFL this year. I will be 51 at the
end of this month. My earliest memory is Bart Starr to Max McGee in
Super Bowl 1. I have rooted for Green Bay in every season since.

No longer. I do not believe that Lombardi would recognize the league anymore.

Perhaps if they’d allow more teams to be parts of their communities
instead of rich men’s playthings that are used to blackmail cities and
states into funding their foolishly expensive and soul sucking
stadiums? See the blackmail up in the Twin Cities as an example of a
city being ripped off to make a rich man get obscenely richer in ways
that will not help the community.

No. No more support or money from me. I’ll watch The Gunners from here
on the wrong side of the pond and I’ll count the months till the next
world cup and cheer for the USMNT then.

But the NFL? Let it rot for all I care any more.
